Combat Scripts Lets do this

Lets start with a little bit of an introduction here, why we are are... whats happening and what we'r trying to do here. My name is Hydlide. I have been a programmer, coder, and musician from quite some times (20 years now, and 36 year of age). I made several community sites like moongamers, bugs1942 and so on. Also one of the bigger projects was uplifting the selectBF program, which never got released in public. Made a complete flash port on it, added tons of new features, made it compatible more or less with TeamDeathMatch and the list goes on.

Anyways, since the last 6 years I haven't been much active in the community scene much, since I was building my own community (the Sound of Reason community is the result of this). It has 11000 unique visitors per month, on an avarage daily base 600 unique visitors and it kind of does not need much of attention because it runs by itself now.

With that in mind, I started a minor project in the background. Updating something called "Combatscript". A project that was nuked dead after the original developers decided to dump the whole project. This is where we are at right now... Re-imagining the Combat script as it initially was made, but make it work this time.

So what should it do? why? and how?

Well, lets take a simple example on a combat script, or ladder script if you will: www.cybergamer.com.au

This would be a good example. Also other people have made several "buyable" products (www.eliteladders.com) for instance would be another one. The problem is that most of these systems are closed, and some of them are as is. I understand from some point of view why this is, since it is defined by the process of creating a ladder and tournaments (that is the main purpose of it all).

In this blog I want to stand still with ideas, and thoughts that go through my mind while this project is developing. How it works, and how everything falls into place.

This is where my journey more or less begins (even while I have started to work on it since the last 3 days now).
